But this is just the beginning; We’re on the expansion path in 2024, with an upcoming iPhone & Android App, train tracker and more and we’re on the lookout for passionate individuals to join our team.

About the Role

We’re actively seeking a Content Manager to join the Rail Traveller team on a voluntary/internship basis initially. You’ll be working with a small close-knit team of railway enthusiasts, with extensive industry and technical knowledge to deliver the Rail Traveller vision.

As Content Manager you will be tasked with:

  • Discovering trending stories, breaking news, press releases and UK railway events (through National Rail data supplied to Rail Traveller);
  • Prioritise and schedule stories according to Rail Traveller’s publishing calendar;
  • Format headlines, SEO and content imagery to optimise digital reach;
  • Manage a team of writers/contributors submitting to Rail Traveller each week, chasing deadlines as required;
  • Supporting the vision and mission of Rail Traveller.

About You – the ideal Content Manager

We’re after passion, commitment and knowledge of the railway industry. Past experience in Editorial/Content roles is desirable, but not essential. We will provide all the required training, support and tools you need to succeed, working alongside an experienced team.

Ideally you will:

  • Have a passion for the rail industry – tell us your favorite traction, route or era on the railway!
  • Excellent written communication skills, and a strong grasp of the English language
  • Familiarity with core content principles such as journalistic style, SEO and content marketing
  • A passion to develop and grow
  • 2-3hrs per week to dedicate to the Rail Traveller project

Please note this position is voluntary at this moment in time but we are open to discussing equity/compensation split as Rail Traveller grows. The Content Manager position will be a key role in the future of RT.
